What a crown does
A crown is a custom-made cap that covers a badly broken-down or decayed tooth, restoring its shape, strength and appearance. It isn't only a repair — it's an aesthetic correction too. Whether it's a fine zirconium crown to repair years of wear on your front teeth or rebuilding a broken molar, we're up for the challenge.
When you might need one
Crowns protect teeth that are cracked, heavily filled, worn down or weakened after root canal therapy. They also cover dental implants and anchor dental bridges.
Materials
Crowns can be made from several materials. We often recommend zirconium and all-ceramic crowns, which are very strong and match the color and translucency of natural teeth. We'll help you choose the best option for the tooth and your bite.
The process
At the first visit, we shape the tooth, take an impression and place a temporary crown. Your permanent crown is crafted by the lab and cemented at a second visit, then checked so your bite feels natural.
Frequently asked questions
How long do crowns last?
With good brushing, flossing and regular checkups, a well-made crown commonly lasts 10–15 years or longer.
Will my crown look natural?
Yes. We shade-match each crown to your neighboring teeth and work with top laboratories for a natural look.
Does getting a crown hurt?
The tooth is numbed while we prepare it. Some mild sensitivity for a few days afterwards is normal.
